Red Wine Wassail

A variation for the holiday season, whether Thanksgiving or Christmas

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup honey
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 lemons, thinly sliced
  • 1 750-mL bottle red wine, your preference

 

 

 

 

Method

Put honey, cloves, and cinnamon in medium-sized saucepan with the water.  Boil for five minutes.

Remove from the heat, add the lemons, and allow to stand for 10 minutes.

Stir in wine and heat over very low flame until just below the boiling point. Do not allow to come to a boil.

Serve hot.

Serves: 6
