Seasoned Smoked Sausage

This recipe doubles quite nicely.  The smokey aroma fills the kitchen as it cooks.

  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1- lb package smoked sausage ( sliced into 2 inch chunks )

 

 

 

METHOD

in large skillet saute onion in oil till tender.

Stir in the water, ketchup, vinegar, mustard, paprika, sugar, salt, pepper and pepper sauce.  Add sliced smoked sausage and bring to boil.

Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer uncovered 10-15 minutes until sauce is thickened and sausage is heated through.

Stirring occasionally turning sausage once.

Serve with prepared vegetables or a leafy green salad.
