Preheat oven to 325°F.
Mix together garlic salt, ginger, pepper and paprika. When well blended, rub over the entire roast.
Put roast with fat side up on a greased rack in a roasting pan. Top with onions.
Bake uncovered, in preheated 325° F oven for 2 to 2 1/2 hour or until meat thermometer reads 160° to 170°F.
Let stand for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing.
