Sloppy Jose Bake

The fellow called Jose may be sloppy, but he's delicious and much spicier than his other sloppy friend, Joe.

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons mustard
  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce (or two!)
  • 1 tablespoon Creole seasoning
  • 1 1/2 cups Bisquick
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seed, if desired

METHOD

Heat oven to 400°F.

Cook ground beef and onion in 10" skillet until beef is brown; drain. Stir in tomatoes, sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard chili sauce and Creole seasoning. Heat to boiling. Spoon into ungreased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.

Stir Bisquick, milk and eggs with fork until blended. Carefully pour over beef mixture. Sprinkle with sesame seed.

Bake 20 to 25 minutes in preheated 400°F oven, or until light golden brown.

Serves: 10
