Fast Food Chili

"Chili has worked itself into almost every major restaurant chain menu in the nation. Here is my copycat version of a fast food chili." Cliff

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 15 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 15 ounce can drained kidney beans
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup diced celery
  • 2 medium, ripe tomatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon red cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup tomato juice

METHOD

Brown ground beef in a large 6-quart pot. Use a fork or spoon to break any large lumps in the beef. Drain off any fat.

Add tomato sauce, beans, onion, celery, tomatoes, chili powder cumin, salt, garlic powder, oregano, sugar, black and red peppers and mix well. Stir in tomato juice.

Bring to a simmer over low heat. Cook, stirring often, for 2 hours.
