Cherries add zing to this breakfast, but cherries are also reputed to reduce the inflammation of arthritis. Loaded with vitamin C, eat a few cherries today.
2 cups 2% milk
1 cup water
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup dried tart cherries
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon grated nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon salt
Honey, light brown sugar, or maple syrup to taste
Method
Place all the ingredients in a medium saucepan. Simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 10 to 13 minutes, until the desired creaminess is achieved.
