Preheat oven to 300°F .
Beat the egg whites on high speed until soft peaks form. Add the cream of tartar. and sugar. When the whites are very stiff, add the vanilla and vinegar and blend .
Draw a circle about 8 inches in diameter on a piece of parchment on a cookie sheet. Spoon the meringue onto the circle heaping it higher in the middle like a mountain. Keep the sides uneven with edges in places. The pile should be about 4 inches high.
Bake 40 - 50 minutes in preheated 300°F oven. Turn off the oven and leave in the oven for several hours until the oven is completely cool. You can leave it overnight.
Place the mountain on a platter and surround with fruits. Cut up the mountain and serve pieces of it with each bowl of fruit.
