Panch Phoron – Bengali 5-spice blend

 

You can buy this alaready prepared in an Indian or Middle Eastern market, or order it online.  But nothing is as good as home made.

  • 1 tablespoon nigella seeds (Black caraway)
  • 1 tablespoon fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tablespoon fennel seeds
  • 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon black mustard seeds
 

METHOD

Mix all the ingredients and store in an airtight jar in a cool dry place.

Yield: about 1/2 cup
