METHOD
Preheat oven to 325°F.
In a large bowl cream
butter and sugar thoroughly. Add egg, and continue beating until well-mixed
and lemony colored.
Combine milk and molasses.
Sift together flour,
salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Blend molasses mixture
and dry ingredients alternately into creamed butter. Beat three minutes
with a mixer.
Pour batter into a greased
8 X 8 X 2 inch baking pan. Bake in a preheated 325°F oven for 45 minutes.
Serves 6 to 8.
