METHOD
In a large pot, bring
water, sugar and flavouring of your choice to a boil. Stir occasionally.
Meanwhile mix margarine
and jam in a mixing bowl. Stir in baking soda, milk, flour and salt. Combine
well.
Spoon the batter into
slowly boiling syrup. Cover immediately with a lid and simmer on low heat
for 10 minutes.
Remove pot from heat.
Take a clean drying-up cloth and place under the lid of the pot. The cloth
will absorb the steam. Let sit until ready to use.
Serve with custard or
ice cream.
