Brownie Recipe 2

Brownies are infinitely patient and allow us to make them using many different recipes. Try one recipe, try two, or three until you find the brownie recipe that is your favorite.

  • 4 (1 ounce) squares. cooking chocolate,
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

METHOD

Preheat oven to 275°F. Butter and flour a cake tin, 9x13 pan, or pie plate.

Melt chocolate in top of a double boiler. Set aside to cool.

Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating between additions. Add chocolate, continuing to beat. Add flour and salt gradually and beat. Add vanilla and mix to combine.

Spread mixture into pan of choice and bake\in preheated 275°F oven until shiny crust appears and brownies pull away from side of the pan, about 45 minutes. You will smell their aroma -- they won't really seem done but are. Baking time will vary with pan used.

Let cool for 1/2 hour, then cut into generous squares and roll in powdered sugar. Or, if in pie pan, cut into pie pieces and serve with ice cream and hot fudge sauce.
