Salsa de Chile Verde con Queso (green chiles, cheese and tomato salsa)

This is a tomato salsa with a taste of cheese.

  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 4-5 fresh tomatoes , chopped
  • 1 can (7 oz) diced green chiles
  • 1/2 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 garlic clove, pressed through garlic press
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 (6 ounce) can prepared tomato sauce
  • 1⁄2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
 

METHOD

Heat oil in skillet. Stir in tomatoes, garlic, chiles and onions. Salt lightly (adjust at end) and saute until tomatoes and onion soften.

Stir in tomato sauce and cheese.

Serve warm.
