Fresh Northwest Cherry Salsa

Salsa is one of the great flavor gifts to dieters, since a little bit perks up a bland meal.

  • 1 cup pitted Northwest fresh sweet cherries
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped green peppers
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon each Worcestershire sauce and grated lemon peel
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • dash bottled hot pepper sauce

METHOD

Chop cherries in food processor or manually. Combine all ingredients. Mix well.

Refrigerate at least 1 hour.

Makes 2 servings.

Adapted with permission from the Washington State Fruit Commission. Thank you.
