Very Blueberry

Grab a basket and head to your favorite spot to pick blueberries. Find secret wild spots in fields or forests, or head for a pick-your-own farm. Pick more than you think you can use, and try to not eat all of them while picking for Jennifer Trainer Thomspon's book Very Blueberry is packed with recipes for breakfast, snacks, entrees, salads, sides, starters and desserts, as well as with mouth-watering variations on spreads, sauces, jams.

Very Blueberry is one of a series of 'little' books. The term applies to size as this is a small, easily carried book. But it is filled with innovative recipes such as Spinach Salad with Blueberry-Mustard Vinaigrette or Herbed Tuna Salad with Blueberries. Very Blueberry opens our eyes to the versatility of this popular berry.

Blueberries are fun to pick and to delicious to eat, but they are also very nutritious. They contain the highest antioxidant levels of all fruits and vegetables and recent studies have shown that they contain disease-fighting compounds to help fight a multitude of ailments. They are low in the carbohydrates and sugar and rich in fiber and vitamin C.

This book is a lovely house gift when visiting friends in the country who just might know where to find some blueberry bushes.
